Club Awards
Each year we honour the individual skaters who
have excelled in different categories. The criteria for the various Awards
are as follows:CanSkate
Progress Awards
Awarded for the most badges passed by age
category.
BMO Financial Group CanSkate
Champions
2 medals are awarded to CanSkaters who demonstrate
the qualities that embody the “Spirit of Skating” – commitment,
perseverance, dedication, passion, triumph and talent. Skaters must be 8
years of age or under.
Outstanding CanSkater
This trophy is awarded annually to a CanSkater who
demonstrates outstanding personal achievement over the season. There is no
age restriction for this award.
Pre-junior Spirit
Spirit awards are presented annually to up and
coming pre-junior skaters. These awards recognize skaters who demonstrate
ability, determination, and the passion to skate. To be eligible for this
award, skaters may not be enrolled in private lessons during the winter
season.
Pre-junior Dedication and
Determination
This award recognizes skaters who have
consistently demonstrated the dedication and determination to be the best
they can be. Skaters may be taking private lessons in addition to
pre-junior.
Outstanding Pre-junior
This award is given to the pre-junior skater who
demonstrates outstanding personal achievement over the season. Skaters may
be taking private lessons in addition to pre-junior.
Test Skater
3 trophies are awarded
at the Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels. These awards are
decided upon the basis of points for freestyle, skating skills,
interpretive, and competitive tests passed.
Dance
These 3 awards (Junior,
Intermediate and Senior) are determined on the
basis of points for dance tests passed.
StarSkate Competitor
3 trophies are presented to the top competitor in
the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior categories. This award is determined on
the basis of points for competition results in freestyle, elements, and
showcase/interpretive events as well as for participation.
Skaters who registered for this year's Sectional
Championships are not eligible for this award.
Competitive Cup
2 trophies are presented to the top competitive
skater in Pre-juvenile/Juvenile and in Pre-novice/Novice/Junior. This award
is determined on the basis of points for competitive results and
participation. Skaters must have registered for
this year's Sectional Championships to be eligible.
StarSkate Dedication and
Determination
3 awards are presented to the Junior,
Intermediate, and Senior skaters who, over the past 12 months, have
consistently demonstrated the dedication and determination to be the best
they can be. The recipients of this award are voted by our coaching staff.
Skaters who win a Test, Dance, Pre-junior, or
Competitive club award are not eligible for this trophy.
BFSC Bursaries
Club bursaries are awarded at the discretion of
the Executive.
